Understanding MOGAD
MOGAD (Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease) is an extremely rare
autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the protective coating
around nerves in the central nervous system. This causes severe inflammation, including swelling
of the brain that can extend beyond the skull. It's so rare that many doctors have never
encountered it before.
For Rachel, this has meant losing vision in one eye due to optic neuritis—inflammation of the
optic nerve. Imagine trying to see the world with half your vision, yet still finding ways to
capture its breathtaking beauty. That's exactly what Rachel does every single day.
Despite the challenges, the pain, and the uncertainty that comes with such a rare condition,
Rachel continues to create. Her photography isn't just about what she sees—it's about what she
feels, what she believes, and the beauty she finds in places others might overlook. It's a
reminder that our limitations don't define us, and that grace and beauty can emerge from the
most difficult circumstances.
If you'd like to support Rachel's recovery journey, your donations help with
medical expenses and allow her to continue creating art that inspires others facing their own
challenges. Every contribution makes a difference.
